The trio formed the winning Italian team in this competition in the four-day ISDE format. Team Italy rode the final MX test on Sunday in the lead and took overall victory against more than 130 of the sport’s top veteran riders who competed.
“I really enjoyed racing here in Portugal,” said former enduro world champion Grasso. “At the end of the four days, we got the victory we were looking for. The big change we made as a team compared to previous years was that we came here well prepared in every aspect – we were really ready. The race wasn’t too difficult, but at the same time there were some tricky aspects, so it’s great to get through the four days without a hitch. For me, Tulio and Enrico, it has been a great week.
Team Germany took second place honors with Team Portugal taking third place.
In the individual classification, he is the only American who won the overall victory. ISDE veteran and multiple gold medalist Fred Hoess was the top overall rider. En route to overall victory, Hoess, aboard a Husqvarna WR250, was the best rider on day three and posted one of the fastest times of the day in the MX test.
Giorgio Volpi is second overall and Adriano Micozzi third. NC
