Renee Young slams WWE for booking weak Women’s Tag Team Championship

This wasn’t the first time WWE brought the Women’s Tag Team Championship. The first time these titles entered LimeLight was in 1983 and the titles had been around for almost 6 years. This story is all but forgotten, and WWE does not associate its new Women’s Tag Team Championships with previous ones.

When the Women’s Tag Team Championships were first defended inside the Elimination Chamber in 2019 it looked like it might be one of the promotion’s most interesting segments, it also looked like WWE had big plans for these title pairs. But as soon as the covid 19 pandemic hit, WWE got really lazy with these titles.

There was a time when it looked like WWE was deliberately destroying the championships as they split up all the women’s teams for no reason. And after the recent chaos caused by Sasha Banks and Naomi, it looks like the future of both of these championships is in serious jeopardy.

Renee Young, who is the wife of AEW star Jon Moxley, recently spoke on her Throwing Down podcast where she talked about the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. She criticized WWE for not being able to properly book the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. She says;

“Women’s titles have only been around in WWE for a few years and as soon as they were brought in, they were big for about 30 seconds and then nobody cared.

There were no real women’s teams and they just lost their luster very very quickly. I guess the best case scenario is that they finally let these women do whatever they want and really start working on the tag division.
