Keith Lee cuts emotional promo after Tag Team Championship win

Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland became the AEW Tag Team Champions on AEW Dynamite, but after the show, Keith Lee’s true emotions were revealed.

After the AEW Tag Title win, Keith and Swerve celebrated the end of the show. Then, after the show ended, Keith Lee took the time to grab a mic and cut a promo in which he poured his heart out and dedicated his win to his dear friends who are going through tough times. Here’s what Keith had to say;

Thank you all very much. Swerve, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I won’t take much time, I know you’ve all been waiting for Rampage, but I have to get on this. I only have three people in my world that I consider extremely close to me. One of them I’ve known for about two and a half decades. I know what you’re all thinking; Damn, Keith, you’re old as shit, aren’t you? I’m 37, but as you can see, I’m young in the legs, baby. But listen, my friend, his name is Lucilius King. I have known him since 1998. I learned recently that he might have cancer. As most of you know, last year I nearly died. I didn’t say a word until the threat was gone and passed. There’s not much you can do to shake me against me. But as for the people I love, I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer two days ago. And I dedicated this game to him and another friend of mine named JD Griffey. The thing is, I didn’t care if we won or lost. The thing is, it’s a brotherhood, and I’m giving my whole being to it. So Lucilius King is more than just a victory for me, it’s more than just a victory for our history. This, sir, is a victory for you and a declaration of my fucking love. I will always be there. Still. And when I get to Texas, I swear to God, I’m gonna get in my car, drive my ass to Austin, Texas. And I’ll see you as soon as possible, my friend. Stay strong, fight like we did. Fight harder than we did. Fighting harder than me to live. And I’ll be there soon, my friend. I love you,

Keith Lee recently mentioned the tough times his “brothers” were going through on social media, but didn’t give much context. Now we know what he meant. We send our prayers and best wishes to Lucilius King and JD Griffey, and their friends and family. Kick to cancer!
