He remained in WWE developmental territory for nearly four years before joining the main roster in 2010. He participated in the first-ever NXT tournament and he was quite impressive during that time. He defeated a lot of big names during his time in NXT, the only wrestler he failed to defeat was Kane.

He was very impressive for the very first day of his arrival on the WWE main roster. When he became a member of the promotion’s hill stable called Nexus, everyone thought he was going to be a huge deal going forward. As everyone knows, the Nexus story could have been a huge success, but once again it fell victim to the heroics of John Cena. After the Nexus defeat, Slater had many different types of runs and in all of them the fans loved him.

The most famous storyline he was involved in has to be the I’ve Got Kids storyline. in this story, he was not picked by any of the WWE brands during the second brand extension and he continued to try to get a contract from RAW and Smackdown.

He later teamed with pro wrestling legend Rhyno and won the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship to become the first WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion. In 2020 he was released by WWE after spending 14 years with the promotion and then he joined TNA.

Heath Slater, who is also a former WWE 24/7 Champion, recently spoke to Cultaholic’s Desert Island Graps where he talked about winning the Impact Wrestling Tag Team Championship with pro wrestling legend Rhyno. He said;

“It’s a beautiful thing. I like this guy. He’s one of my best friends in the world, inside and outside the ring. We’re friends, man. I never know what my life thought like me and Rhino, ECW’s crazy “Man Beast”, we’ll be best friends someday. Never in my life have I thought about it, but damn it, it came, and it’s here. My kids literally call him Uncle Rhino, rightfully call him “Uncle Rhino”.

“It’s just one of those things where, as the man, I love him to death. It was actually a goal two years ago. As soon as we got into IMPACT, finally me, personally, with Slammiversary two years ago then I got to Bound For Glory I got hurt all the bullshit that happens with all of this god damn it was a pain but it was a goal for me and him years ago on IMPACT. It was one of those things where the hell, men, we got gold here. Let’s get some gold here, you know. Let’s have some fun with it. Then two years later, it finally happened. Courting.”

“It was one of those things where when I got there it was already just a lay-up. So we tried, but I had to get injured, and then we tried again, then he had to get injured. So again, third time is a charm, I guess. So it finally worked out and all. But no, that was a bucket list goal for me, for IMPACT, from the start. I can’t believe it took so long to finally get there just because of the injuries.
