Radio amateurs of Canada is very pleased to once again be able to operate a booth at Dayton Hamvention, the world’s largest amateur radio gathering, May 20-22.
the RAC booth 2504 will again be in building 2 with the International Amateur Radio Union, the American Radio Relay League and other national organizations.
Theme 2022: “Reunion”
Hamvention General President, Rick Allnutt, WS8G:
“This year’s theme is Meeting – to celebrate the reunion of a world of hams after missing two Hamventions and to commemorate the history of the Dayton Hamvention dating back to 1952.
The logo depicts amateur radio operators from around the world gathering at Hamvention for a grand meeting at the Greene County Fairgrounds and Exposition Center.
So if someone in your club asks you, or if the topic comes up on the air, let everyone know that from May 20-22, WE WILL HAVE HAMVENTION!”
Hamvention General President, Rick Allnutt, WS8G, released the following statement:
“We strongly anticipate the 2022 Hamvention to be launched. We cannot guarantee what the government may decide about the unknown changes of the pandemic. It has become apparent that the State of Ohio is highly unlikely to end large gatherings anytime soon. Despite a recent large spike in Omicron COVID cases and hospitalizations, nothing has been done to restrict large indoor or outdoor events such as sporting events.
Allnutt added that he anticipates official state guidance may be to recommend (but not require) mask-wearing and social distancing. Hamvention will support state guidelines. We do not plan to check the vaccination status on site.
Some have asked if COVID testing will be available at Hamvention. At this time, there are no plans to carry out on-site testing. Watch hamvention.org for any updates regarding the COVID situation.
